| Many
thanks to all who helped us raise $20,000 for the Scottsville Volunteer
Rescue Squad! Once again, Steve, Larry, and Timi
Ryalls rocked the 27th annual cook off with their foot pounding
music. The bad weather held off and nothing deterred the determined
cookers nor the great swarms of chili tasters that descended on Hatton
Ferry for the cook off. We had a record number of cooks this year so
take some time to go to the links for all of these super cookers who
donated their time and effort in community service. Best
Chili Awards: Many thanks to Reggie Claar (Cool Texan, Lone Star Chili Cook, and an originator of this super event) for providing tremendous trophies and lots of legwork to promote this event. The Esteemed
Chili Judges: Rick Daniels (3WV radio station),
Al Sadtler (Budweiser), Reggie Claar, and Dave
Thompson. The crowd (over 1000 strong this year!) always has a great time and newcomers are finding out about and attending the James River Runners Great Chili Cookoff. We had 31 entries this year along with the 3WV and Lonestar Chili Challenge. Many thanks go out to all these cookers for their community minded involvement ,incredible creativity, and work cooking what many think is the best chili on the East Coast.
Special
Chili Cooker Battle: Thanks to all these great chili cookers for their participation. Without them, there would not be a successful ending to a wonderful day of civic fundraising for the Scottsville Volunteer Rescue Squad. See ya'll next year!!!!! |
