We had the best time!!!! A very good use of the money and a wonderful family fun adventure. Everyone was very accommodating and we had a blast. We cannot wait to go again except even longer and more people!!! I would suggest this for any type of family situation!

When you talk about family traditions, my boys and I have been camping at James River Runners at Hatton ferry for 18 years… During our June 2025 camping trip, we realized that my youngest son was five years old the first time we went primitive camping at James River Runners… Though we may not go every summer, we’ve spent more summers at JRR campground than not. We have created so many memories together tubing and kayaking, and I enjoy every second every year!

We decided to take an adventure on the James for my birthday with our kids and I could not recommend the team at James River Runners more. The whole family from our 6 year old to my 70 year old parents had a blast.

We have tubed here for years and finally did the 9-mile canoe paddle. It was a spectacular stretch of river! Tom, the new owner, and Tucker, the all time best river guide and canoe wrangler, went above and *way* beyond to take care of us. The whole staff is amazing, including the happy tail-wagging yellow lab. If you live within 2 hours of JRR, this is the place to build summer memories. We are lucky to a have a tubing and canoe livery like this on the James.
